Terms of Service
The baseline for how we work together. Anything specific to your project lives in the quote we agree with you.

What these terms cover
These terms apply to this website and to the general working relationship between ConfigStudio and the agencies we deliver for. They set the baseline.
Anything specific to a piece of work, meaning scope, price, timeline, and revision window, lives in the quote or statement of work we agree with you. Where a signed agreement or NDA says something different from this page, that signed document wins.
What we do
ConfigStudio is a white-label development partner. We build under your brand, as an extension of your team, and stay invisible to your clients. We do not take on end clients directly in competition with the agencies we work for.
Nothing on this website is an offer or a binding commitment to take on a project. We confirm work in writing before it starts.
Quotes and estimates
Quotes are based on the brief you send us. We aim to come back within about 24 hours with a practical, itemised figure and the assumptions behind it.
An estimate is not a fixed price unless we say it is. If the scope changes after work begins, whether through added features, shifted requirements, or third-party changes outside our control, we will tell you what it means for cost and timeline before we proceed rather than after.
Engagement models
We work on a fixed-scope per-project basis or on an hourly basis for retained and specialist support. Which one applies is set out in your quote.
Fixed-scope projects include a defined revision window. Hourly work is logged transparently and billed on the cycle we agree.
What we need from you
Timely feedback, approved designs or a clear brief, and the access a task genuinely requires. Delivery dates assume these arrive when expected. If they do not, timelines move.
You are responsible for confirming that content, images, fonts, and third-party assets you hand us are properly licensed for the use intended. We build with what you supply.
Payment
Payment terms, schedule, and any deposit are set out in your quote. Invoices are due as stated on the invoice.
We may pause work on overdue accounts. We would always rather raise it with you first than stop mid-sprint.
Ownership of the work
Full intellectual property in the deliverables transfers to you and your client on final payment. Until then we retain it.
We do not use proprietary frameworks or platform lock-in that would make it difficult to hand a project to another team later. Work built on open-source components stays subject to those components’ own licences, which is normal and does not limit what you can do with the site.
We keep the right to reuse our own general knowledge, techniques, and non-client-specific code patterns on other work. That never includes your code, your content, your client’s data, or anything identifying you.
Confidentiality
Every engagement runs under NDA by default, mutual, and signed before briefs or credentials change hands. We are equally happy to sign your agency’s own paper.
No ConfigStudio branding, credit, or watermark appears in code, comments, commits, or deliverables. We do not name you or your clients as a reference without written permission. The detail is set out on our NDA and FAQ page.
Third-party platforms and services
Our work usually sits on platforms we do not control, including hosting providers, WordPress, Shopify, HubSpot, payment gateways, and various plugins and apps. Those come with their own terms, pricing, and update cycles.
We are not responsible for outages, breaking changes, price rises, or discontinued features on those platforms, though we will help you work through them.
Warranties and limits
We build to a professional standard and stand behind our work. For fixed-scope projects we stay on the hook for post-launch fixes to what we built, and we do not treat a ticket as closed simply because 30 days have passed.
What we cannot promise is that any website will be permanently error-free, that third-party services will keep behaving, or that specific commercial outcomes such as rankings, traffic, or revenue will follow. Beyond correcting our own work, our liability for any engagement is limited to the fees you paid us for that engagement, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profit or lost data.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending an engagement
Either side can end an engagement in writing. You pay for work completed and in progress up to that point, and we hand over what has been built along with the access and documentation needed to continue elsewhere.
Hourly and ongoing arrangements can be paused or stopped without penalty. There is no long-term lock-in.
Using this website
The content on this site is ours. You are welcome to read it, quote it with attribution, and send it to colleagues. Please do not republish it wholesale as your own.
How we handle data collected through this site is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time and will change the date at the top of this page when we do. Terms already agreed in a signed quote or statement of work are not affected by a later change here.
